How to Use facebook marketing effectively in our MLM business without spamming our wall?

With over 750 million active users and close to 50% of those active users who log on to Facebook in any given day, a Network Marketer might see this as a steady stream of free MLM leads.  However, in order to use this valuable resource to your advantage involves certain fundamentals and protocols.

Nowadays, Facebook is part of mostly everyone’s life and the word alone is the epitome of social networking.  Currently, Facebook is ranked as the #2 most visited site on the Internet behind of course Google.  Wouldn’t it just make sense for you to have a presence on Facebook in order to maximize your success?  For most network marketers who see the value of Facebook come crashing the party with what I like to call “ignorance on fire”.  The next thing you know a person’s wall, which was all about their personality transforms into a company promoted site.  There are links to company replicated sites, them talking about how this is the best biz in the world, and they basically spam all their friends in hopes of a “Hail Mary pass”.

What NOT to do.
Many network marketers see friends on Facebook as dollar signs and they get distracted by the core root that Facebook is a social media site.  You wouldn’t go around walking on the street and when you meet someone say, “Hi! Visit www.XYZ.com and let’s get you started in my biz.”  Most marketers are doing this and it is not only rude offline, but it is also considered spamming and turns off many potential prospects.  If you are throwing your “join now” website out into oblivion hoping to land that touchdown, there are much more effective ways.  Strategically in football, although it takes a longer time, consistent, short, “catchable” passes has a higher rate of scoring than a few deep, “I hope he catches this ball” passes.

So what are the correct Facebook Marketing protocols?

1)   The most important is that you have to brand YOU.
Your profile should reflect a person who they want to do business with and someone they would like to share a connection with.  Find a profile picture that reflects your personality.  You want to show that you mean business, but you also know how to have fun.  A smile is always contagious so have pictures of you smiling.  They say a picture is worth a thousands words so have a picture that shows a glimpse of who you are.  Fill your profile with things you like and where people can find a common ground.

2)   When making connections with people, remember that Facebook marketing doesn’t involve pitching business opportunities and trying to sell people on your business.  Facebook is a social networking sight where you build relationships with people.  Show that you care about them and that your interest is genuine.  Not about getting them to open their wallet.  We are here to help make a difference in people’s lives and we can’t do that if people don’t trust you.

3)   When looking for prospects, look to target like-minded people.  People have an easier time striking up a conversation where people have the same interests.  Find groups, fan pages, friends of friends, or places of common ground that can open the door to building a relationship with them.  This is extremely important because you want to connect with people of quality that has the same view as you.  Your goal is not to convince people to work with you, but to have people understand and see the same opportunity you see about your business when the time comes.

4)   Avoid topics that could cause tension and controversy with your prospects.  These topics you must precede at your own risk and includes, religion, politics, the environment and other controversial issues.

5)   Post informative and inspirational entries on to Facebook.  This includes, but not limited to, inspirational quotes, inspirational videos, informative posts about how to build your business, your blog posts, your videos, and anything you have learned that would benefit other people.
Few people invest the time to get to know their prospects and really create a relationship with them.  If you invested the time to get to know them you will find out what they do, what problems they are having, and what they dream of achieving.  As network marketers we are not sells people, but we are problem solvers and provide a service where they can alleviate that problem or help them achieve their dreams.

See you at the top of your dreams!
